Donald Leroy Woolery Sr., 74, St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Woolery was born May 16, 1932, in Ericson, Neb., to Henry W. Woolery and Nina Ruth (Sargeant) Hardy. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper from 1945 to 1952 in the 11th Airborne during the Korean Conflict. He married Mildred Charlene Gilbert on May 7, 1952, in Maryville, Mo. She survives of the home. He was a baker for Wonder Bread for 25 years, retiring in 1981; and retired from Donna Farrow and Co. in 1994. Mr. Woolery was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Donald L. Woolery Jr.; brother, John Hardy Jr.; and sister, Bonnie Gilbert. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, life-time member of the V.F.W., and an avid fisherman and craftsman. Survivors: children, David A. Woolery, and wife, Franci of Branson, Mo.; Linda M. St. John, and husband, Jeff of Savannah, Mo.; Sherry P. Woolery; Kathy R. Lynch, and husband, James; and Timothy Woolery, all of St. Joseph; brothers and sisters, Robert Woolery of Madrid, Iowa; Wilma Ruth "Dolly" Jenkins of St. Joseph; and Arlene Cottrell of Grant City, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Joseph. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Joseph, where a parish rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday and the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
