Bio
Charlene Woolery, 81, St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Abbey Woods Health Care Center. She was born on February 5, 1929, in Maryville, Mo.. the daughter of Millard Lester and Josephine (Lattin) Gilbert. She married Donald LeRoy Woolery on May 7, 1952. He preceded her in death in 2007. Charlene was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Woolery Jr.; two sisters, Phillis Beattie and Clara Gilbert; three brothers, Jack, James, and Harry Gilbert. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Charlene was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and she liked to read, fish, sew, knit, cook, and bird watch, being particularly interested in Hum-ming Birds. Survivors include five children: David Woolery (Franci), Lampe, Mo.; Sherry Woolery, St. Joseph; Linda St. John (Jeff), Savannah, Mo.; Kathy Lynch (James), and Timothy Woolery, all of St. Joseph; sister, Judy Hendrickson (Danny), Warrensburg, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial: 1 p.m. Thursday, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Parish Rosary: 6 p.m. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial gifts to the Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory to help with funeral costs or the American Cancer Society, Diabetes Foundation, or the American Heart Association.
