Bio

Services are pending at this time for Leonard Erickson, age 90 of rural Superior, Nebraska. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior is in care of the arrangements. ========== Leonard Wayne Erickson, the son of John and Gerda (Thomsen) Erickson, was born on May 31, 1925 on a farm near Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on August 22, 2015 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 2 months, 22 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers LaVern and LeRoy. He is survived by his wife Helen Marie, four daughters, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother Leslie Erickson of Superior, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Leonard lived his entire life in Nuckolls County Nebraska, graduating from Superior High School in 1942. On June 3, 1945, he was united in marriage to Helen Marie Michaud. To this union four daughters were born: Linda Halvorson (John) of Grand Junction, Colorado; Sharon Schaub (Steve) of Ramona, Oklahoma; Phyllis Erickson of Hastings, Nebraska, and Diane Pfeifer (Dave) of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Leonard and Helen Marie enjoyed life on the farm, raising livestock and a variety of crops from wheat to sunflowers to garden produce. Leonard was a steward of the earth, which was apparent in the way he farmed and in his and Helen Marie’s participation in such projects as the replanting of trees at the Nebraska National Forest. For many years, Leonard and Helen Marie enjoyed traveling to the warmer southern states in the winter and to Colorado in the summer. Likewise, their daughters and families enjoyed many visits to Grandpa’s farm. Those times will be greatly missed. Leonard enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors, animals, flowers, birds and the farm-way of life with his grandchildren: Matt Halvorson and great-grandchildren Cade, Stella and Mattie; Britta Nilsen, husband Andrew, and great-grandchildren Anders and Liv; Sigrid Bowen and husband Rob and great-granddaughter Ellyanna; Kent Schaub and Coree and great-grandson Mark; and Zachary Pfeifer.
