W C “ Slim” Wellman, 97, of Kirbyville, Went to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 4, 2018 Funeral services will be 2:00 p m Monday, October 8, at Call Junction Baptist Church with burial at Bleakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p m Sunday at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. Bro. Jason Glenn will officiate. Born November 16, 1920 in LaCamp, Louisiana to Willie Clifford and Frances Emma ( Bedgood ) Wellman, he lived most of his life in Kirbyville and was a long time member of Call Junction Baptist Church. Slim was a lineman and worked many years for Kirbyville Light and Power. He was a farmer and avid horseman. He was a “ real cowboy “, riding horses and working cattle most of his life. Even in his 70’s he was riding horses in the national forest. He was quick to encourage boys and girls and was generous with his time and talents. Survivors include his wife of more than 63 years, Doris ( Cochran) Wellman of Kirbyville; son, Bill Wellman of Silsbee; daughters, Sue Skinner and husband Bill of Beaumont, Marlene Hooks and husband Joe of Kirbyville, and Marilyn Langley of Deville, Louisiana; brother, L E Wellman and wife, Dianna of Kirbyville; 5 grandchildren, Russell Hooks, Robin Tolbert, Josh Hooks, Adam Skinner, and Aaron Skinner; and several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers , Slim requested donations be made to the Call Junction Benevolence Fund at Call Junction Baptist Church or to your local church. The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice and especially his nurse, Joanie, for the loving care they gave daddy during the last several months.
