Bio

William Banner "Bill" Pate was born in the Banner area to Richard Pate and Frances Greear Pate. As the oldest son, he quit school after the 7th grade to help support his family. He became a printer's assistant and eventually became the owner of Crecent Printery in Coeburn, Virginia. He married his childhood sweetheart, Wilma Evans, in 1931 and they had one son, Benny Neil. Wilma passed away in 1954. In 1955 Bill married Euna Lee Holbrook and they had one daughter, Debora. Bill and Euna retired to Florida in 1973. Bill passed away in 1974 and was buried in the Greear Cemetery.
