Bio
Richard Luster Pate was the youngest son of Charles Thomas and Elizabeth Davis Pate. By the time of the 1880 Census, the family was living in the Abingdon, Virginia area. By the time of the 1900 Census, Richard was working as a miner, still in the Abingdon area. In 1907, Richard married Frances Folsom "Fannie" Greear in Bristol, Tennessee and they moved to Wise County, Virginia, where Richard continued to work as a miner. Richard and Fannie had raised five children: Mary Roxia Lavelett "Roxie", WIlliam Banner, Charles Richard, Roger Graham and Sarah Elizabeth "Betty." Richard passed away in 1942 and was buried in the Greear Cemetery in the Crab Orchard area.
