Bio

Luella was the daughter of Justin Jesse Darr and Catherine Eve Knifong. Luella married George W Long (Jr.) on April 8, 1877 in Sullivan Co., Missouri. -------- Obit was located in The "North Platte (Neb.) Daily Bulletin, May 14, 1942, page #4, and reads as follows: "Mrs. Luella Long To Be Buried Here Friday. -- Funeral services for Mrs. Luella Long, 84, who died yesterday afternoon at the Jess Long ranch, will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Adams Funeral home. Rev. Ralph P. Rasmussen, pastor of the First Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in the North Platte cemetery. Mrs. Long came to this city in 1880 and had lived here since that time. She is survived by three sons, Jess, Curt and Ben, all of North Platte, six grandchildren and six greatgrand-children. The body will lie in state at the Funeral home until time of service." ----- 1885 Census, Hall Precinct, Lincoln County, Nebraska, shows the George Long family. George being 36 years old, born in Missouri as was both of his parents born in Missouri also. Wife of Jane, 28 years old, also born in Missouri as was both of her parents. A son George, 7 years old, born in Missouri, and a son Agusta, 5 years old, born in Colorado.
