Bio

Funeral services were to be held here at 3 p.m. today for Roman John Sykora, 66, who was found dead in his house trailer at the rear of Tommy's Auto Sales, 901 South Muskingum. Services were to be held in the Hubbard Funeral Home chapel with Rev. William Lensing, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiating. Burial was to follow in Odessa Cemetery. Sykora's body was discovered Saturday afternoon by M.J. Caswey, 205 East Ann. Casey called police and a peace justice was called to the scene. Justice of the Peace C.P. Robinson said Sykora died of natural causes. Sykora was born July 4, 1894 in Czechoslovakia and moved to Odessa 17 years ago from Wharton, Tex. He was married in 1916 in Wharton to Lillie Peters. Survivors include his wife, Lillie, Victoria; three sons, John F. Sykora, Victoria; Raymond R. Sykora, Miami, Fla., and Lawrence J. Sykora, Houston; his mother, Johanna Walla, West, Tex.; eight grandchildren, four half-brothers and one half-sister. The Odessa American Monday, April 10, 1961
