Bio

Vaclav Joseph (V.J.) Pesek completed his earthly journey on March 17, 2018. He was a man of strong faith who guided his large family by word and more often example. He was born in Wied, TX on September 4, 1923 to Thomas and Lillie Pesek and spent his youth in Jourdanton, TX, farming and working in the oil field. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in WWII and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands in 1946. He graduated from Texas A&I in 1951 and enjoyed a 34 year career as an oil and gas accountant for Exxon Corporation. V.J. was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, three sisters, and his daughter, Cynthia Pesek. Also preceding him was his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou Pesek, who died in 2006. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Farley Frazier of Corpus Christi, and three sons and daughters-in-law, Don Pesek and Cil (Hendricks) of Corpus Christi, Darrell Pesek and Amy (Kizer) of Houston, and Larry Pesek and Charlene (Bodden) of College Station. The greatest blessings in his life were his fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His surviving grandchildren are Eric, Danny, Keith, Ryan, Maria, Kevin, Paul, Tommy, Maggie, and Paige Pesek and Emily and Claire Frazier, Leslie Anne Marbach, Andrea Rando, and Regina Swirsky. All of V.J.’s children are graduates of Texas A&M University. Fourteen of his fifteen grandchildren are graduates of Texas A&M University or current students there. He is also survived by a sister, Rose Martin, of Jourdanton, and two brothers, George Pesek of Corpus Christi and Charlie Pesek of Houston. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Chapel, 1222 Morgan Ave., from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. There will be a Holy Rosary that evening at 7:00 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church where V.J. was a parishioner for 52 years. Monsignor Roger Smith will be celebrating the Resurrection Mass. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. Donations may be made to St. Patrick’s School Endowment Fund 3305 S.
