Bio

Mary Lou Pesek returned to the arms of our loving God on September 26, 2006. She was born at Loire, Texas on November 21, 1931 to Lloyd and Agnes Divin. After her upbringing in the Texas farm country, she graduated from Incarnate Word University in San Antonio and the Santa Rosa School of Nursing. Although she briefly practiced nursing, most of her life was devoted to raising her family and teaching piano to numerous Coastal Bend residents for the past 38 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish and former church organist for 25 years. She was also a member and past president of the Corpus Christi Music Teacher's Association. Most of all, she was a loving wife to her husband, V.J. Pesek, and mother and grandmother to her five children and 15 grandchildren. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, and her daughter, Cynthia Pesek. She is survived by her husband of 51 years. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law and her three sons and daughters-in-law; and 15 grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers. (NOTE: Edited to remove names of survivors.) The family wishes to thank Drs. Robert Jakubowski and Annaliese Gonzales and the medical communities of Christus Spohn Hospital, M.D. Anderson, and Cancer Specialties of South Texas for their support in her long struggle with breast cancer. She always had a song in her heart and leaves that legacy to her many students, friends, and family. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2006 at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Chapel, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2006, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Roger Smith as celebrant. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
