Wife of Frank Berger
Berger, Maria (Richter) Mrs. Maria Berger Claimed by Death Mrs. Maria Berger, highly respected and muchly beloved lady of this city, died Tuesday night of last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emil Kahlden, and after appropriate services at St. Michael's Church, conducted by Very Rev. Jos. Szymanski, the remains were committed to mother earth in St. Michael's Cemetery, Thursday morning. Pall bearers for Mrs. Berger were as follows: Messrs. Frank A. Seifert, Emil C. Vacek, F. F. Anders, Joe Kasper, Adolf Schndler and Fred J. Fietsam. Mrs. Berger was born at Gros Petersdorf, Moravia, Austria, March 12, 1864. She emigrated to Texas with her parents, Josef and Maria Richter, in the year 1880, first settling in the Sedan community. She was united in marriage to Franz Berger of High Hill Oct. 25, 1881. In the year 1890 the family moved to the present Berger farm on the Colorado River, where her husband died in 1917. In 1922 she moved to Weimar, where she resided up to the time of her death, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Emil Kahlden, for the past few years. Mrs. Berger is survived by the following children: Mrs. F. H.Schneider, Messrs. Edmund, Ferdinand, Herny, Frank and Otto Berger, Mrs. Emil Kahlden, all of Weimar, and Mrs. Emil Skrovan of El Campo; also twenty grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Magdalene Nitschmann of Nursery, Mrs. Joe Neirlich of Engle, Mrs. Wm. Rahmstorf, Sr., of San Antonio, and one brother, Stephan Richter of Hackberry. She was preceded in death by her husband and three children, Joseph and Emil Berger and Mrs. Ida Insall. Mrs. Berger had lived in this section for a long time and was highly regarded by everyone. She ever proved herself a devoted wife and mother, a kindly neighbor and friend, and a consistent christian woman. She will be greatly missed by her family, as well as a large circle of friends throughout this section. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to her bereaved ones. The Weimar Mercury, August 3, 1934
