Bio

Eugene L. Kubala, 85, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007, in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with the Rev. Gary Swirczynski as celebrant. Burial will follow in Fatima Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Aderhold Funeral Home. Eugene was born near West, Texas, to the late Will and Emily (Hutyra) Kubala. He attended Cottonwood school and served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. On Oct. 18, 1948, he was united in marriage to Sophie Pustejovsky. He moved to the Chatt area where he farmed his entire life, before retiring in 1986. Eugene enjoyed hard work. He has served on the Abbott School Board, was director of Chatt Water Supply, and a director of the Abbott Gin. Eugene was a life long member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the K.J.T. Society #107. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bessie Pustejovsky; and brothers, Willie Kubala and Eddie Kubala. Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Sophie Kubala, of Hillsboro; sons, Charles Kubala and his wife, Eileen, of Waco, and Richard Kubala and his wife, Kim, of Lancaster; daughter, Dolores Kubala, of Irving; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
