Bio

Sophie P. Kubala, 92, of Abbott, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, in Waco. A rosary will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Aderhold Funeral Home, followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 11, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott with Rev. Ouseph Thekkumthala as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Denver Crawley. Burial will follow in Fatima Cemetery. Sophie was born in West, Texas, to the late Joseph F. and Frantiska "Frances" (Bacak) Pustejovsky. She attended St. Mary's School and was a 1940 graduate of West High School. On October 18, 1948, Sophie was united in marriage to Eugene L. Kubala. Sophie was a homemaker and worked with Eugene on the family farm. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. Sophie was also a member of the K.J.Z.T. Society #107. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking and especially loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 30, 2007; brothers: Albin, Bill, Anton and Louis; and sisters: Ottilie, Mary and Agnes. Survivors include sons, Charles Kubala and wife, Eileen, of Waco, and Richard Kubala and special friend, Becky Withrow, of Lancaster; daughter, Dolores Kubala, of Irving; grandchildren: Christopher Kubala and wife, Sharon, Emily Kubala, Jacklyn Kubala, Brandy Stevens and husband, Robbie, and Jason Kubala; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
