Bio

Vera (Heidrich) Allgood, a resident of Bennington, Oklahoma, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, left this life on Saturday December 2, 2017 at the age of 91 years and 9 days. She was born in Breslau, Texas on Tuesday November 23, 1926 to Willie and Elizabeth (Neubauer) Heidrich. Vera married her beloved Junior in Albany, Texas on December 24, 1947. Vera was blessed with the ability to grow anything, she loved to harvest her garden and share with those she loved. She loved to cook for her family, and enjoyed canning her beautiful vegetables to enjoy all year long. Vera managed a high-end dress store in Bay City, Texas, owned a diner in Albany, Texas, and was a substitute teacher. She loved to have company and always made everyone feel welcome. Vera loved her family, but she especially enjoyed and cherished visiting with her grandchildren. Mrs. Allgood is survived by her daughter, Linda McBride of Bennington, Oklahoma; son, Alan D. Allgood of Longview, Texas; grandchildren, Bobby H. McBride and wife Dana of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Kimberly Anderson and husband James of Fort Collins, Colorado, Russell McBride of Bennington, Oklahoma, Susan Lawrence and husband, Richard of Calera, Oklahoma, Sarah Privett and husband Bobby of Calera, Oklahoma, Allison Bissell and husband Brian of Keller, Texas, Amy Allgood of Longview, Texas; fifteen great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Allgood was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Elizabeth (Neubauer) Heidrich and son, Spencer Allgood; great-granddaughter, Virginia Privett; siblings, Ruthie, Alvin, William, Werner, Elton and Anita. A special thanks to Juanita and the staff at the Calera Manor and Guardian Hospice for their professional, loving care. Family hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Tuesday December 5th at the Holmes~Cpffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A chapel service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday December 6th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Bro. Jesse West, and Bobby McBride, Jr. officiating (the service will conclude at the chapel).
