From The Deseret News (Salt Lake City, UT) - July 6, 1901: Colonia Pacheco, Chihuahua, Mexico, July 2 - The sudden and unexpected death occurred last Saturday, June 29th, of one of our most respected citizens, Enoch Elijah Gurr, after an illness of only four days, of cramp of the stomach, which resulted in his death. He was born in Wallsburg, Wasatch county, Utah, May 22, 1871 [to Reuben Gurr and Elzadia Emiline Miles]. About two years and a half ago he moved with his father and family from the Eleventh ward, Salt Lake City, to Mexico and located in this place. He was high esteemed and much beloved by all, was one of the ward teachers, an active member of the Mutual Improvement Association, and a faithful attendant of the Sunday school. Had been married only six months to Miss Alice Rowley, daughter of the late well known John Rowley of Nephi, Utah. In the absence of the Bishopric, the funeral services were conducted by Elder Henry Lunt, in the schoolhouse Sunday afternoon, when comforting and inspiring remarks were made by a number of speakers, who also spoke in eulogistic terms of the exemplary character of the deceased. Floral emblems were the gift of the young ladies as at token of respect to the departed. The people enmass followed the remains to the graveyard.
