Bio
Josephine Catherine Slovak was the daughter of Ignac Slovak and Francis Dlabaj Slovak. She married Floyd Allen Garrett on March 23, 1946 in Ennis, Ellis Co., Texas. They had had 4 children; Wanda Jean, Floyd Allen, Jr., Anna Marie,& Delores Kathleen. Obituary - Josephine C. Garrett - Mrs. Josephine C. Garrett, 74, died Friday, May 16, 2003 at her home in Ennis. She was born November 24, 1928, in Ennis, the daughter of Ignac and Frances Dlabaj Slovak. She was reared in the Ennis area where she attended St. John and Ennis Schools. On March 23, 1946, she was married to Floyd A. Garrett of Ennis. After their marriage they lived in Europe in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. They returned in Ennis in 1964. She was the mother to the extended family, including the nieces and nephews of the family. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband Floyd Garrett; a son, Allen Garrett of Denver, two daughters and their husbands, Anna Marie and Don Tanner of Ennis, Dodie and Pat Meyer of Ennis, three sisters, Lillie Slovak of Ennis, Anne Reeves of Lancaster and Wilma Hall of Ennis, three grandchildren, Christina Garrett, Stacy Meyer and Maegan Tanner. She was preceded in death by a daughter Wanda Jean Garrett, in 1950. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Keever Chapel with Father Fred Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends at J.F. Keever Mortuary from 12:30 p.m. to service time Monday.
