Willis C. Pelter buried in Columbus Funeral service for Willis C. Pelter, 88, was held Feb. 17 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Columbus. Rev. Frank Kordek officiated at the Mass of the Resurrection and at burial in the parish cemetery. Mr. Pelter died in Modesto, Calif., where he had been visiting his son and daughter in law, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Pelter Jr. The son of Thomas and Annie Childress Pelter, he was born April 10, 1889 at Roanoke, Va. In 1902 he moved with his parents to Colfax County and attended rural school. Mr. Pelter married Pearl M. Wittenburg May 7, 1912 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church. He farmed for a number of years, worked for the Union Pacific Railroad while living in Richland, later moved to Columbus and worked for the State Highway Department until his retirement. Surviving are one daughter, (Dorothy) Mrs. Wendell Walters, Columbus; two sons, Willis C. Jr., Modesto, Calif.; Lawrence, Oak Park, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
