Mobile Register (AL) - Friday, June 25, 2004 Verna Merchant Vaughn, 87, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004. She was a native of Robertsdale and a resident of Elsanor. She is survived by her husband, Howard F. Vaughn, and four daughters, JoAnn V. Valenti, Jerri V. Straight, Jeannette V. Cooper and Judy V. Kirchharr, all of Elsanor; eight sons, Jessie H. Vaughn of Plant City, Fla., Johnnie E. Vaughn of Robertsdale, Jack H. Vaughn of Fairhope, Jerrel Vaughn of Loxley, Jay Vaughn of Glendale, Ky., Jeff I. Vaughn, Joe H. Vaughn and Jimmy Vaughn, all of Elsanor; two sisters, Marion Jerkins of Pensacola and Lilli Henderson of Daphne; a brother, Roy Merchant of Elsanor; 35 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mack Funeral Home chapel in Robertsdale, with burial in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale.
