Roy E. Merchant Roy E. Merchant, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006. He was a native and resident of Robertsdale. Merchant was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Elsanor and family members say he was an avid gardener. Survivors include his wife, Lucina Riendeau Merchant of Robertsdale; six daughters, Elaine Landrum, Jane Norris, Irene Abrego, Janice Thompson and Arlene Kyser, all of Robertsdale, and Lillian Wright of Maplesville, Ala.; seven sons, Paul Merchant, David Merchant, Fred Merchant, Frank Merchant and Lloyd Everett Merchant, all of Robertsdale, Wayne Merchant of Loxley and John Richard Merchant of Spanish Fort; two sisters, Marion Jerkins of Pensacola and Lilly Henderson of Daphne; 43 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Baldwin Memorial Cemetery in Robertsdale. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
