Bertha Holden Prather, 95, of Lake Charles died at 5:35 AM on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 in a Jennings hospital. Mrs. Prather was born July 24, 1911 in Turkey Creek, LA and has lived in Lake Charles since 1964. She has resided for the past two years at Golden Age Nursing Home in Welsh. She worked for all of her life as a homemaker and was a member of the Pentecostal faith. Mrs. Prather is survived by her children, Edwin Prather (Jeanora), James Prather (Mickey), and Betty Fuselier (Francis), all of Lake Charles, Lennie Daley (Riley) of Carencro, LA, Loretta Leger (Murphy) of Hayes, LA, Marlene Richard and Kay Jaramillo, both of Lake Charles and Donald Prather (Sharon) of Westlake; brother, Cecil Oats; sister, Lennie Smith, both of Texas; thirty-three grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was the proud matriarch of over 100 descendants. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Prather; two daughters, Imogene Benoit and Wanda Cinquemano; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 14, 2006 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Dennis House and George Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the start of the services.
