Mrs. Hammond, 44, Dies in Sweetwater Funeral Thursday for Divide Woman Sweetwater, July 6 - Mrs. W. P. Hammond, 44, resident for the past 20 years of Divide, 20 miles south of here, died Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. in Sweetwater Hospital. She had been in ill health for a year, and Thursday underwent major surgery. Her condition became critical Saturday. The funeral will be held from the Nolan Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Dean Elkins, pastor, assisted by the Rev. T. J. Sparkman, pastor of the Lamar Baptist Church here, will officiate. Burial will be in the Divide cemetery under direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Hammond and seven children survive. They are one daughter, Mrs. Henry Blair of Sweetwater; and the following sons, Buren, Herschel, Chester, Farris, Lendon and Willis Hammond, all living at home. Her mother, Mr. A. R.
