ETHRIDGE LADY DIES SUDDENLY Mrs. Florence Locke Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack; Was Fifty-seven Years of Age. Mrs. Florence Ray Locke, age 57, died at her home in Ethridge Saturday night, about 10 o'clock, following a heart attack. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon of this week at the Ethrdige Church of Christ, with E.O. Coffman officiating. Burial was in the John Lay Cemetery. Mrs. Locke was a native of Wayne county, but had resided in Ethridge for a number of years. She served as an election official at Ethridge for many years. She is survived by her husband, Clarence E. Locke, of Ethridge; one daughter, Mrs. J.C. Shelby, of Ethridge; four sons Edgar Locke, of Jacksonville, Fla., Frank Locke, of Columbia, Tenn.; Ray Locke, of Defiance, Ohio, and Clint Locke, of Ethridge; three sisters, Mrs. Sam Martin, of Waynesboro; Mrs. Lina Gallaher and Mrs. Arthur Tyler, both of Ethridge; two brothers George Ray, of Stephensville, Texas, and Herman Ray, of Ethridge, and ten grandchildren. North Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. NOTE: The above obituary was taken from the Democrat-Union, 28 May 1949. Florence Ray was the daughter of John Almon Ray & Sarah Lavina Agnes Jane (Sallie) Huckaba. She married Clarence Edgar Locke (son of Clint Locke & Sally Hannah) 18 Sep 1915 in Lawrence Co., TN. They had 3 children: Clarence Ray (Ray), Virginia, & Eugene Clint (Clint).
