Clearence (Steve) Warren Barton Sr., 78, of Sweetwater, died at 4:54 a.m. Friday at Hendrick Memorial Hospital in Abilene. Services are pending with McCoy Funeral Home. Born August 19, 1898, in Nolan, he was a retired farmer. He married Sara Jeanette Jones December 14, 1921, in Sweetwater. He lived most of his life in Nolan County. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Adrian of Sweetwater, Clarence Warren Jr. of Sweetwater and Elton (Salty) of Nolan' six sisters, Mae Hollowell of Abilene, Ruth Bennick of Lubbock, Margaret Womack of Corpus Christi, Mrs. J.M. Modrall of Nolan, Lillie Jordan of Anson and Irene Helm of Abilene; two brothers Nolan Barton of Big Spring and Paul Barton of Dallas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. --The Abilene Reporter-News, Satu4day, April 30, 1977, page 44
