Warren Barton Sweetwater, Texas Warren Barton was born October 1, 1922, in Nolan County, son of C.W. and Jeanette Barton, and died March 3, 2009. He served his country for 3 1/2 years during World War II in the Army Air Corps. Warren married Winona Elliott on September 7, 1946 in Brownwood, Texas, and then moved to Sweetwater, Texas, where he worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service for 33 years. Warren and his wife Winona then moved to Lake Brownwood for eight years and were living in Abilene at the time of his death. Warren is survived by his wife of 63 years, Winona, daughter Janice McCarty and husband Mickey of Abilene, grandson John Bradley McCarty who was the light of his life, brother Adrian Barton and sister-in-law Ruth, nephews Gary and Glenn Barton and niece Gayla Williams, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Wilma and Ted Mitchell and nephew Elliott Mitchell of Austin,Texas and niece Gloria Felts. Warren's younger brother, Elton (Salty) preceded him in death in 1996. Warren was a member of the Baptist Church. It was Warren's request that no formal funeral service be held. Burial will be in Nolan Cemetery, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
