Bio

Nolan - Billy Elton "Salty" Barton, 72, lifelong Nolan County resident, died Saturday in a Sweetwater hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with the Revs. Rayburn Blair and Orvel Brantley officiating. Burial will be in Nolan Cemetery. Mr. Barton was born in Nolan and graduated from Divide High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a retired salesman of Archer-Daniels-Midland, an ag-industrial company. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Nolan Baptist church. Survivors include two brothers, Adrian Barton and Warren Barton, both of Sweetwater; two nephews and two nieces; and seven grand-nieces and grand-nephews. --Abilene Reporter-News, Sunday, December 1, 1996, page 41
