Benjamin "Ben" Uptmor, 77, of Tours, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at his residence. Rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery, conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Ben was born in Tours, Texas, to the late Ben Andrew and Josephine Frances (Schroeder) Uptmor. He attended school in Tours and West High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Ben worked as a supervisor in the wiring department at Command Aire, which later became and Trane Inc. in Waco for over 35 years until his retirement in 1997. Ben also farmed and ranched for most of his life. He loved to fish, go dancing, and eat out on the weekends where he enjoyed visiting with all his friends. He was a lifetime member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Rosalie Uptmor; and brother-in-law, Bill Enlow. Survivors include brothers, Kenneth Uptmor and wife, Dorothy, and Gregory Uptmor, all of Tours; sisters, Angeline Sottman and husband, Kurt, of New Braunfels, Marian Glass and husband, J. T., of Austin, and Alma Enlow, of Garland; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Waco Tribune-Herald: 10/26/2006...Z
