Bio

Gregory Uptmore, 68, of West, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014, in Providence Hospice Place in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Michael Ajewole as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Martin's Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held. Gregory was born Waco, Texas, to the late Ben A. and Josephine (Schroeder) Uptmore. He attended St. Martin's School and West High School. Gregory was a aircraft painter for L-3 and Raytheon in Waco for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church of Tours. Gregory enjoyed restoring antique cars, dancing, taking care of animals, and farming. He especially loved listening to Polka music. He was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin "Ben" Uptmore; sisters, Angeline Sottman and Rosalie Uptmore; and a brother-in-law, Bill Enlow. Survivors include his son, Chris Uptmore, of Kyle; duaghter, Jennifer Uptmore, of Austin; granddaughter, Kaitlin Uptmore; brother, Kenneth Uptmore and wife, Dorothy; sisters, Marion Glass and husband, J.T. and Alma Enlow; brother-in-law, Kurt Sottman; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
