Bio
John D. Parks was born August 6, 1897 in Blossom, Lamar County, Texas, son of J.W. Parks. He married Leona Flick. On August 6, 1940, John D. Parks, of 100 N. 20th St., Paris, TX, died on his 43rd birthday in a freak accident when he fell from the seat of his truck while bending over to pick up a trailing rope and was crushed to death under the wheels late Tuesday afternoon, about 6 miles northeast of Cooper, Delta County, TX. Accompanied by Elmer Reed of Paris, he was coming home from Cooper where he had delivered a load of hay. An ambulance was called, but John was dead by the time it arrived, death probably having been instantaneous. The body was taken to Cooper and later brought to Paris. Brown-Roden Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The service was held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in Blossom at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Gene Sades, conducted by the Rev. Hub Norris, Baptist preacher, with interment at the Knights of Honor Cemetery, Blossom, Lamar County, Texas. Reference: The Paris News, TX, Obituary, Wed, 7 Aug 1940 issue
