• WILLIS -- Services for Maggie Lee Askew, 88, Gainesville, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Willis Church of Christ with Chris Webb officiating. Interment will be at Willis Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home. Mrs. Askew was born April 18, 1912, at Gordonville, Texas, to Jessie C. and Esther Briley Badgett. She died Jan. 10, 2001, in Gainesville. Married to Elmer Newton "Bud" Askew on Oct. 24, 1928, at Powell, she worked in Willis at the Oklahoma University Biological Station and retired after 20 years. She had been a member of Fobb-Willis Church of Christ for 72 years. She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 11, 1983; two sisters, Ruby Chambers and Bessie Hefner; and brother, J.C. Badgett. Survivors include her children, Carl, Gainesville, Wendyl, Willis; and Barbara Yow, Saginaw, Texas; a brother, Billy Badgett, Las Vegas; two sisters, Ruth Jones, Cleburne, Texas, and Louise Samples, Farmington, N.M.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Bearers will be Jack Davidson, Larry Kirby, Howard Askew, Joe Hefner, Ronnie and Randy Yow. Husband of Maggie Lee (Badgett) Askew (Apr 18, 1912-Jan 10, 2001), married Oct 24, 1928 Powell, OK
