Abilene Reporter August 17, 1999 OLD GLORY - Alfred "Doc" Letz, 94, died Monday at an Aspermont care home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell with the Rev. Gary Bruns officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors of Haskell. Mr. Letz was born in Comal County and grew up in Old Glory. He attended school at Hooker and farmed in the Old Glory and Sagerton communities all his life, except a short time working for the railroad. He moved to Aspermont in 1992. He married Emma Nehring in 1924 in Oklahoma; she preceded him in death. Survivors include one daughter, Marie Kretschmer of Haskell; two brothers, Tony Letz of Jayton and Adolph Letz of Stamford; two sisters, Ella Vanderworth of Houston and Lena Weaver of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, two great-grandsons, one stepgranddaughter and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell or to the Old Glory or Sagerton community centers. The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.
