Dead at the scene of the accident were Mike De la Cruz, 65, of Nolan and of 1209 Camp St., Seguin, driver of the south-bound car, and two passengers in the north-bound car, Sid Moore, 76, and his wife, Renia, 77, both of Nolan. Reported in critical condition Monday morning at Simmons Memorial Hospital was Mrs. Elida D. Munoz, 33. In fair condition were her husband, Alexandro D. Munoz, 33, and her children, Alexandro D. Munoz, Jr., 13, Mary D. Munoz, 8, and Chello D. Munoz, 9. Also in fair condition was Janie Gonzalez, 17. Two other Munoz children, Pitto D., 7, and Linda D., 6, were reported in good condition. The Munoz family is from Nolan. The driver of the north-bound car, Randy Gene Finch, 12, of Houston, and his mother, Mrs. Gene (Marvelle) Finch, were both reported in fair condition Monday morning at Simmons Hospital. Gene Finch, father of Randy Gene, who was traveling about 100 yards ahead of the car driven by his son, said he saw the accident in the rear-view mirror. "It was a narrow country road, and they topped the hill at the same time." Texas Highway Patrolman Herman Seale of Sweetwater, who investigated the crash, said that when he arrived at the scene leading two ambulances, "the two cars were locked head-on in the middle of the road. Some of the injured were in the cars, some were out." The accident occurred on the road that is variously known as The Valley Creek Road and is a continuation of FM 126. Mrs. Finch and her son were taken to Simmons Hospital by Finch, who said he drove back, saw that the Moores, his grandparents, were dead, and picked up his family and went to summon help. Funeral arrangements are pending for Mr. and Mrs. Moore at Cate-Spencer Funeral Home in Sweetwater. The Moore family had lived at Nolan since 1900. A rancher, Mr. Moore married his wife in 1911.
