WAHOO-Funeral services for John F. Leitgeb, 88, Wahoo, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic church Wahoo. Mr. Leitgeb died Tuesday at Saunders County Community Hospital in Wahoo. He was a fireman at Mead Ordinance Plant and an employee of Armco Inc., Wahoo plant for 41 years and its former superintendent. Mr. Leitgeb was born December 4, 1899, in Ebbergussing, Austria. He came to the United States at the age of 2 and has lived in the Wahoo area since then. He was a 25-year member of the Wahoo volunteer fire department, Veterans of Foreign Wars Veterans post 4502 and American Legion post 82, both of Wahoo, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200 of Fremont. He was a World War II veteran and served with the U.S. Army in Siberia. He married Cecilia Bartek Oct. 26, 1925, at Valparaiso. She survives. Other survivors daughter, Dottie (Mrs. John) Hraban of Weston, Betty (Mrs. Richard) Jurgens of North Bend, Anna Belle (Mrs. Gayle) Malmo Vermeline of Malmo, and LaVerne (Mrs. George ) Wonka of Weston: 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe of Wahoo, Jim of Henderson, Nev., and Max of Olympia, Wash.; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Steel of Anchorage, Alaska, Christine Walters of Omaha, and Jennie (Mrs. Randy) Filbrandt of Wahoo. The Rev. Lawrence Gyhra will officiate Friday's services. Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery, Wahoo. Military graveside rites will be given by Veterans of Foreign Wars post 4502 and American Legion post 82. A scriptural wake service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo. Visitation is in progress until 8 tonight and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials have been established to Saunders County Community Hospital Auxiliary or the heart fund.
