(Published in Borger Daily Herald, October 8, 1944) Funeral services for Richard Franklin Groves, 57 year old stock farmer, who has been a resident of Stinnett for the past 35 years, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the Stinnett High School Auditorium with Minister E.R. Carver of the Church of Christ, Amarillo, officiating. Surviving are six sons, James Amos, Richard Franklin, Thomas Philo and Paul, all of Stinnett; Fred A., of Lubbock, and Ernest, of Gray, Okla.; three daughters, Mrs. Faye Morton of Dumas, Mrs. Hazel Thompson and Mrs. Blanche Britain of Stinnett; 33 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Serving as active pallbearers will be Johnnie, Howe, Seoph Lasater, Ray Owenbey, J.E. Earley, Mike McCormick and Buster Christian. Honorary pallbearers are Bert Haile, Woodie Jarvis, George Hamilton, John Ownbey, Joe Williams, Tom Coble, Willis Mayfield, Emmett Pond, Vaughn Hedgecoke, E.C. Britain, Bob Stansberry and Judge Lackey. Flower girls will be Laura Lee Groves, Katie Bernice Groves, Bobby Pat Groves, Margurette Morton, Ruby Jean Groves, Frankie Graves, Pearl Marie Thompson, Betty Marie Brittain; all grandchildren of the deceased. Interment will be in Lieb cemetery, Stinnett, with the Carver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. ******* Son of Claudius & Martha Ann (Baker) Groves. -------------------------
