"Patricia A. Kavan, 88 years, of rural Morse Bluff, Nebraska died Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Fremont Medical Health Center in Fremont. Patricia was born September 27, 1927 in the Webster community to Bernard and Anna (Platenburg) Emanuel. She grew up in North Bend and was a graduate of North Bend High School in 1944. Patricia married Leonard J. Kavan June 5, 1946 at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend. She was a very devoted mother to five children. She and Leonard received the Loving Cup in 2008 for being the longest married couple (62 years) at Old Settlers in North Bend. She was an Avon Representative, loved to bake and garden. She belonged to the Altar Society and played the organ at St. George’s Catholic Church in Morse Bluff for sixty years. She also decorated the church for the holidays. She is survived by her husband, Leonard; sons, Larry Kavan, Jerry Kavan and Gene (Deb) Kavan all of Morse Bluff; daughters, Marilyn McDaniel of Morse Bluff and Bev (Alan) Ratkovec of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Emanuel of Carson City, Nevada; sister, Celine (Richard) Papa of Fremont; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bernice DeVore and Rita Woita; grandchildren, Billy Kavan and Tina Ratkovec; and son-in-law, Clyde “Mac” McDaniel. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 26, 2015 at St. George Catholic Church in Morse Bluff. The Rev. Father Jeremy Hazuka will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. prior to the service at the church. A rosary will be at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery near Morse Bluff.
