Bernice "Bernie" Devore, 81, of Fremont died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at the Fremont Medical Center. She was born Feb. 19, 1926, in rural North Bend to Bernard and Anna Plantenberg Emanuel. She grew up in rural North Bend and was a graduate of North Bend High School. After her marriage, she lived in Colorado for several years. She returned to North Bend in 1961 and then moved to Fremont in 1973. She worked at the former Gambles Warehouse as a bookkeeper and secretary for 24 1/2 years until it closed in 1986. She then was employed at Emanuel Printing in Fremont from June 1985 to 2005. She married Leonard Devore on Jan. 9, 1960, in Denver. They later divorced. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church where she was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist (E.M.E.) and greeter. She was a member of St. Partick's Women, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Fraternal order of Eagles Auxiliary at Wahoo. She also was a member of card clubs and a bunco club. Survivors include: Her son Gregory "Gregg" Devore of Vista CA: three sisters, Pat (and husband, Leonard) Kavan of Morse Bluff, Rita Woita of North Bend and Celine (and husband, Dick) Papa of Fremont; Brother, Kenneth (and wife, Barbara) Emanuel of Carson City, NV; a stepsister , Dora Kay (and husband Larry) Aldrich of Estherville, IA; a stepbrother, Bill (and wife, Barb) Schroedter of West Point. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law,; Joe Woita. The memorial Mass will be a ll a.m. Saturday at St. Partick's Catholic Church in Fremont, with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating. There is no visitation, however, friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
