Janet L. Novotny, 77, of Clarkson, Nebraska, died Sunday, November 29, 2015, at the Golden LivingCenter in Clarkson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 3 at 1:00 PM at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson, with Fr. Rod Kneifl celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the Clarkson National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11:00 AM until service time at the church. Memorials are suggested as those of the family or donor's choice. Janet was born July 11, 1938, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Leo and Margaret (Speicher) Bures. She attended St. Bonaventure grade school and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School. Janet worked in retail in Columbus before she was united in marriage to Edwin A. Novotny, Jr., on Decemeber 1, 1962, in Omaha. The couple made Clarkson their home. Janet was a lifetime member of the Clarkson Women's Group, enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and doing crafts. She volunteered her time during "Story Hour" at the Clarkson Library. Janet is survived by: Daughter - Paula (Tom) Hamernik of Clarkson, NE Son - Alan Novotny of Topeka, KS Son - Tom (Julie) Novotny of Columbus, NE Son - Randy (Tami) Novotny of New Castle, PA Step-son - Bill Novotny of Dallas, TX 16 Grandchildren 25 Great Grandchildren Sister - Joyce (Ron) Albright of Omaha, NE Janet was preceded in death by: Parents - Leo and Margaret Bures Husband - Edwin Novotny, Jr. Brother - Robert Novotny Brother - John Novotny
