Richard H. Rhoades, 86, of Vero Beach, FL died Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at the Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach,. Mr. Rhoades was born March 14, 1920 in Amoret, MO and moved to Vero Beach 41 years ago from Decatur, GA. He had been in the Home Sales Cookware industry before his retirement. Mr. Rhoades was a member of the Good Shepherd Church of God in Winter Beach and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy. Survivors include his wife, Nellie Bass Rhoades of Vero Beach; son, Jack Rhoades of Vero Beach; step-daughters, Dorothy Fronduto of Vero Beach, Mary Danison of Yeehaw Junction, FL, Letha Rhodes of Vero Beach and Merle Hedges of Vero Beach; step-brothers, Earl Bass of Vero Beach, Lester Bass of Vero Beach and Roy Bass of Wabasso, FL; brother, Ben Rhoades of Rio Grande, CA; sister, Gladys McCall of Vero Beach and Mildred Rhoades of Platt City, MO; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Vivian Ray Rhoades. SERVICES: The family will receive friends 5-8 PM, Friday, August 25, 2006 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A funeral service will take place 11 AM, Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Good Shepherd Church of God in Winter Beach, FL with the Rev. Noah Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Winter Beach Cemetery with military honors by Veterans of Foreign War Post 3918 of Vero Beach. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
