Nellie Mae Bass Rhoades, 83, died June 3, 2008 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. She was born in Madison County and lived in Vero Beach for 48 years, coming from her birthplace. She was a member of Good Shepherd Church of God in Winter Beach. Survivors include her sons, Earl Bass and Roy Bass, both of Vero Beach, Lester Bass of Winter Beach, and James Webb of Sebastian; daughters, Mary Danison of Okeechobee, and Letha Rhodes, Merle Hedges and Dorothy Fronduto, all of Vero Beach; step-son, Gene Bass of Winter Beach; brother, Teford Colvin of Bartow; sisters, Estelle Bass and Abbie Bass, both of Madison County; 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by husbands, George W. Bass and Richard Rhoades. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. June 7 at Good Shepherd Church of God in Winter Beach, followed by a service at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Tom Durrance officiating. Burial will be in Winter Beach Cemetery. Arrangements by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach. Published in the TC Palm on 6/5/2008.
