From "The Grand Island Independent", Grand Island, Nebraska dated Friday, October 21, 1966, Page 2: Mrs. Maude Cameron Succumbs at Aurora AURORA (Special Dispatch) – Mrs. Maude Cameron, 77, died Wednesday in a care home at Aurora following an illness that extended over a period of several months. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Higby Mortuary at Aurora with the Rev. Donald Nunnally, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery at Stockham. Visitation hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Higby Mortuary. Mrs. Cameron was born March 6, 1889, in Clay County to Mr. and Mrs. John Mintun. The family moved soon after her birth to Phillips and when she was about seven years old moved to the county farm which they operated for ten years. She was married to George Cameron on March 28, 1906. The couple farmed in the Stockham community until 1925 when they moved to the county farm, which they also operated for ten years before returning to Stockham in 1935. Mr. Cameron died in October, 1953. Survivors include two sons, Orville of Bellevue, Ida., and Joseph of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Mrs. Cometa Hedlund of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, George Mintun of Kearney; one sister Mrs. Alpha Beat of Eugene, Ore.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
