Bio

Crystal R. Maughan, 85, passed away peaceful Tuesday, December 23, 1997 at her home in Orem, Utah. She was born October 12, 1912 in Molen, Emery County, UT, the daughter of Thorvald and Lucy Rasmussen. She married Angus M. Maughan on June 22, 1948. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on December 28, 1956. His first wife passed away leaving him with four married children, Murray Maughan, Lila Beglau, Flora B. Steed, and Jim Maughan. Crystal loved and enjoyed them very much. After 16 beautiful years of marriage, Angus M. Maughan died in May of 1965, leaving her a widow of two children: John and Lucy Maughan. She was educated in Ferron, UT, then after high school attended BYU and graduated in 1933. In 1947 she continued her education and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah in Elementary Administration and Supervision. She also obtained a degree in Special Education. She taught and supervised in the schools of Utah for over 40 years. Teaching was a wonderful and rewarding profession for her. She loved children and always had their interest at heart. She is survived by her two children, Mr. John Maughan and his wife Gladean of American Fork, UT, and Mrs. Lucy Fawcett and her husband Robert of Riverton, UT. Also her brother LaRay Rasmussen of Provo, UT; and her younger sister Cleo Powell of Murray, UT; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29, 1997, at 10 a.m. at the Sharon 1st Ward Chapel, 641 South 400 East in Orem. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St. in Orem and also Monday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the ward chapel. Interment, in the Logan Cemetery.
