Bio

Earl Hays Roberts, 88, of Waxahachie, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be at noon, Saturday, September 19, 2015, at the House of Hope. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rennie Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Waxahachie City Cemetery. Earl was born on September 20, 1926, in Pottsville, Arkansas, to the late Clyde Earl and Lois (Kendrick) Roberts. He was the owner/operator of Hickerson’s Food Store from 1960 until 1993. Earl was a member of the Rotary Club, American Legion, Texas State Guard, Gideons International, and the North Texas District Men’s Ministries. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, now known as the House of Hope, for 68 years, where he had also been a 33-year member of the Board of Elders serving as the Secretary-Treasurer He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Roberts; wife of 15 years, JoAnn Roberts; sisters: Sybil Cook, Ruth Kendrick, Hazel Prior, and Mary Ellen Roberts; and great-granddaughter, Cate Thompson Survivors include his sons, Tom Roberts and his wife, Shelia, Keith Roberts and his wife, Ruth, and Ken Roberts and his wife, Rhonda; daughters, Janice Webb and her husband, George, and Sherry Gage and her husband, Scott; grandchildren: Matthew Roberts, Meredith Roberts, Christina Evans, Lauren Hutchins, Patrick Roberts, Shaun Roberts, Brittany Thompson, Hayley Roberts, and Carly Hubbard; great-grandchildren: Sophia Fedoroff, Makinleigh Roberts, Olivia Thompson, Ava Thompson, and Benjamin Roberts; brothers: Bob Roberts, Charlie Roberts, and Fred Roberts; other relatives and many friends.
