Bio
Sybil Louis Cook, age 88 of Malakoff left this life on earth to awaken to eternal life in heaven on April 14, 2011. Sybil was born on Dec. 7, 1922 to Clyde and Lois Roberts in Pottsville, Ark. near Crow Mountain. Sybil graduated from Pottsville High School in Pottsville, Ark., business school, and Southwestern Assembly of God University, in Waxahachie. She has been an ordained minister for about 70 years. She married the Rev. O.B. Cook in Lincoln, Neb. on Feb. 23, 1944. She and Rev. Cook had four beautiful daughters. During their years of ministering, they pastored at Edgewood Assembly of God, Flatwood Assembly of God, Sentinel Assembly of God, Oklahoma, Whitehouse Assembly of God, Mineola Assembly of God, Jacksonville Assembly of God, and Malakoff Assembly of God. While in retirement they pastored Mexia Assembly of God, and Canton Assembly of God. Rev. and Sister Cook were married 55 years before his passing on Sept. 15, 1999. She is preceded in death by her husband: Rev. O.B. Cook, daughter Verla Cook Wilbanks, sisters Ruth Roberts Kendrick and Hazel Roberts Prior. Survivors include three daughters, Vanna and husband Eddie Nokes, of Malakoff, Vonita and husband M.L. White of Coppell, Velda Cook Fritz, of Athens, four grandchildren Mike Nokes, Brian Nokes, DeAnn Vedder, and Tavia Hunt. She is blessed with two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Earl and wife JoAnn Roberts of Waxahachie, Bob and wife Geneva Roberts of Springdale, Ark., Charles and wife Ann Roberts, of Talco, Fred and wife Dorris Roberts of Fairview. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Malakoff First Assembly of God Church on Sunday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m. Under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home, Malakoff. www.tomlinsonfuneral.com
