Duncan Banner, Fri., July 14, 2006 Comanche - JERRY W. COCKRELL, 66, of Comanche, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006, in Veterans Administration Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Funeral will b e at 10 a.m. today in Carter-Smart Funeral Home with Mario Pineda officiating. Burial was to be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Jerry was born June 14, 1940, to James and Nora Shawn Cockrell in Duncan. He worked for the City of Purcell as a police officer and a truck driver. Survivors include a son, Jerry Cockrell Jr. of Edmond; a brother, Larry Cockrell of Alabama; a sister, Jean Williams of Newcastle, Okla.; and three grandchildren, Brandon Fowler, and James and Shawn Cockrell. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Johnny Cockrell in 1999; and two brothers, Michael and Dean Cockrell. Bearers will be Brandon Fowler, James Deyo Cockrell, Shawn Cockrell, Donald Eversole, Charles Eversole and Bob Denton. Honorary bearers are Bruce Eversole and Randy Cockrell.
