Bio

Alfonso Suchanek Services at Ord Alfonso L. Suchanek was born June 24, 1905 at St. Paul, NE to Bohemeil and Anna Crockfield Suchanek, and died November 14, 1977 at Ord. He was 72 years old. Al moved with his parents at an early age to Sherman County where he attended school near Rockville and Ashton. He was married to Hattie Lucina August 3, 1944. After their marriage they made their home on a farm near Loup City, later moving to a farm in Garfield County, then to a farm west of Ord. He retired from farming and moved into Ord in 1950. His wife Hattie, died March 18, 1973. Al was then married to Mildred Bowman Dwinell September 14, 1974 at Ord. Most recently he had been employed by the City of Ord with the cemetery maintenance department. Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Ord; six step-daughters, Mrs. Darwin (Jean) Poss of Elba, Mrs. Robert (Bertha) Vogeler of Scotia, Mrs. Harold (Shirley) Bremer of Scotia, Mrs. Blaine (Alice) Donner of North Loup, Mrs. Don (Thelma) Studnicka of Wilcox, Mrs. Ben (Betty) Schamp of Ericson; step-sons, Roy Dwinell of North Loup, and Ronald Dwinell of White Water, CO, 28 grandchildren and one great-grandson; two brothers, Charlie Suchanek of Lexington, and Vince Suchanek of San Dimas, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one infant son, one sister, and two brothers. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 17, 1977 with burial in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery.
