Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent August 1986 Dale C. Bruhn, 77, a resident of Wedgewood, died Saturday, Aug. 23. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Lavern Larkowski will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery... Mr. Bruhn was born April 1, 1909, at Grand Island, the son of Christian and Mary Joehnck Bruhn. He began his education here and completed his education in the Abbott schools near Cairo. He then began farming in the Cairo area. He married Mina Barnard on Oct. 9, 1933, at Lexington. They farmed in the Cairo-Wood River area until 1967, when they moved to a farm northwest of Grand Island. Mrs. Bruhn died in 1973. After the death of his wife, he moved to town. He had been a resident at Wedgewood for the past four years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Eagles Aerie No. 378. Survivors include a son, Robert of Grand Island; a daughter, Mrs. George (Irene) Dunbar of Billings, Mont.; three brothers, Homer of Grand Island, Kenneth of Aurora and Donald of New Mexico; five sisters, Mrs. Hazel Day of Ontario, Ore., Mrs. Claude (Mary) Dickson and Mrs. Edwin (Gayle) Schwieger, both of Grand Island, and Mrs. John (Edna) Maier and Mrs. Harold (Joan) Spiehs, both of Cairo, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl; a grandson; a brother, Wayne, and a sister, Laura Claussen.
