OBITUARY James Smith King (1872) KING Winterset Madisonian, April 17, 1872, page 4 Another good man gone - beloved by all who knew him and enjoying the confidence of the public to the fullest extent. Last Wednesday (April 10), James S. King breathed his last, and on Thursday, his remains were followed to the cemetery by the Odd Fellows, of which order he was a member, and a large number of mourning friends. We are glad to know that the widow and little ones left behind are not without provision for their support. On the same page... Marriages, Births, Deaths King - On the 10th inst., in this city, James S. King, aged 38 years, 11 months and 2 days. He came to Winterset in 1867. James S. King. Mr. King operated a grocery store until his death in 1872.
