DULCENIA OGLESBEE OBIT: Mrs. Dulcenia King Oglesbee died at her home in Winterset on Jan. 25, 1922 following an attack of pneumonia. Mrs. Oglesbee came to this county during the civil war, living here five years until her marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Oglesbee lived in Cass county for years, but again located in Madison County, which became their home until death. Miss Nancy, at home with her Mother, was for several years a teacher in one of Winterset's grades. Besides Miss Oglesbee, three other daughters and a son survive their mother. Rev. S. J. Malone conducted funeral services on Friday, interment taking place in the Winterset cemetery. ________________________ Winterset Madisonian Wednesday, February 1, 1922 Page 3 Dulcenia King was born in Illinois on March 31, 1847 and died in Winterset Jan. 25, 1922, aged 74 years, 9 months and 24 days. She came with her father's family to Madison county in 1864. She was united in marriage to Isaiah Oglesbee, July 9, 1869 and settled in Cass county, Iowa. They moved to Madison county 31 years ago and settled on a farm in Scott township. Mr. Oglesbee departed this life Aug. 11, 1907. To this union were born seven children, one son and six daughters, two of whom Della and Alma, have passed on before. The living children are: Noah Warner Oglesbee of Madison county, Mrs. M. C. Bickett of Oldham, S.D.; Mrs. A. J. Wright of Mercedes, Texas; Mrs. W. R. Kirk and Nancy E. Oglesbee, of Winterset, all of whom were present at the funeral, also two brothers Noah M. King of California and A. W. King of Saint Charles, and one sister Mrs. J. J. Shott of Colorado. There have been 25 grandchildren, 22 of whom are living and one great grandchild; all of whom together with many friends, remain to mourn her loss. In 1916, when moved from the farm to Winterset and lived there until she entered into rest. In early youth she joined the Presbyterian church in Illinois. On coming to Winterset, she place her membership in the United Presbyterian church and continued a devoted member until her death. Funeral services were held Jan. 27th at 11 a.m. from her late home. Sermon by Rev. S. J. Malone, her pastor. The body was laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.
