Bio

R.C. was born in Caddo, Oklahoma to Alfred Stephen and Cora Ann Lawlis. He was the grandson of Peter Benton & Sarah (Rhodes) Lawlis of Arkansas. He had three brothers and one sister: Thomas Elton, Edward Alfred, Cora Mae, and James Haskell. R.C.'s father, Alfred moved his family to Jones County, Texas in December of 1917. There they farmed for several years and then moved to Fisher County, Texas. Robert Clayton married Sue West on July 20, 1935 in Hamlin, Texas. They lived in Lovington beginning in 1946, where he worked in the oil industry until his retirement. R.C. was survived by his wife, Sue, and daughters Jane Ann Arledge of Farmington and Bobbie Sue Jolly or Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and two grandchildren.
