William R. Petter, age 76, of Abbott, a longtime Hill County resident, died Wednesday, December 8, 1982, at his home. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, the Rev. Gilbert Barth as celebrant. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Penelope. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mr. Petter was born November 14, 1906, in McLennan County. He had lived in Hill County most of his life and in Abbott the past four years. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and KJT Society No. 50 of Penelope. Survivors include three sons, William L. Petter and Benjamin Petter, both of DeSoto, and Thomas Petter of West; four daughters, Lillian Bacak of Cedar Hill, Mrs. Joe (Doris) Hutyra of Bellmead, Mrs. William (Angeline) Sinkule of Rt. 2 West, and Mrs. William (Katherine) Pustejovsky of Abbott; his mother, Mathilda Petter of West; a brother, Ed Petter of Abbott; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Millie) Lednicky and Mrs. Mary Kallus, both of West; 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Edward Petter, Gene Lednicky, Bennie Kallus, Patrick Svacina, Raymond Svacina and Joe Albin Karlik.
