Edward Skala Dies Suddenly; Burial in Ord Funeral services were held Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Greeley for Edward J. Skala, 60, a life-long resident of the Ord and Greeley communities. Mr. Skala died unexpectedly Feb. 11 of an apparent heart attack. Rev. Keith Brunning and Rev. Walter Grantham officiated at the service. Interment was in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Mr. Skala was born Aug. 1, 1908 in Ord, the son of Fred and Tracy (Parkos) Skala. On Apr. 18, 1933, he married Helen Nevrivy at Ord. The couple farmed near here until 1947 when they moved to Greeley. Mr. Skala also worked as a carpenter and more recently operated a blacksmith and welding shop. Surviving are his widow, his mother, Mrs. Tracy Skala of Ord, one daughter, Mrs. Betty Byerly of Scotia; three brothers, Rudolph Skala of Cozad and James and William Skala of St. Paul; and three sisters Mrs. Rose Penas of Ord, Mrs. Lillian Zadina of Wilber; and Mrs. Marion Penas of Grand Island.
